About Me

face of bill bistak

I'm Bill Bistak.

Twenty years ago, I became a sleep clinician in Toronto. Then everything collapsed at once—friendships, relationships, and career. Suddenly, I was the one who couldn't sleep, couldn't breathe, couldn't find solid ground.

Nobody fixed me. No one could.

What saved me was being witnessed. Not solved. Not advised. Seen. It took decades, targeting different wounds, different collapses. But somewhere inside that process I found what I now offer to others.

I don't do therapy. I don't offer quick fixes. I sit with people inside what stayed — the mini-traumas, the emotional paper cuts everyone dismissed as not a big deal, until they added up to something that couldn't be ignored.

I wrote The Gate. I make surreal miniature photographs. I run structured listening sessions. All of it comes from the same place: the belief that disconnection isn't weakness. It's a survival strategy that can become something else entirely.
